Just a thought....How far off are we from a member posting he paid $2500 or $3000 for an LS430 that he got from an older couple that was well maintained by Lexus?...Hmmm... not far I'm sure. Our cars have depreciated substantially if not to the limit and now are just old cars that were made very well... Keep your eyes out!!
It will be time to move foward soon or eventually. to newer models....

It's going to be a while before we see a decent LS430 at that price range.
I bought my 01 UL for 5K a few months ago and my experience with LS tells me that it takes quite some time for the value of the car to depreciate to the last few grants.

Really? I'm seeing 5-6K on a regular basis for 01-03 models... grant it, I'm can't attest to condition, and I'm sure it will be harder and harder to find a good example, but prices are plummeting...It's the natural course of car ownership.Yes it's true that 2500-3000 for any car today is most likely a "parts car"....

The price already plummeted for the most part and we are talking about a decent car not a junk car.

2005
Crystal White/Ecru
92,000 Miles
Ultra Luxury/Radar PCS
$14,900 (out the door by virtue of TN not accessing sales tax when purchasing from family)
Conservative 9/10
7/2016
Full service history replete with updated new front air shocks and 90k was done early due to age not miles.
Private

My brother truly did not want to sell as he spent 2 years searching for an UL/Radar that met his criteria as having managed a Mercedes-Benz body shop for a decade and now working as a claims adjuster. Southern car with Tennessee being the furthest North it has lived.

While there will be many who paid less, when factoring in not having to pay the almost $2000 in sales tax, I truly could not feel more blessed. Not so sure about my older brother...

Angry Just Paid $9950 for an '05 LS430 with 146k miles

Of course, part of the reason I bought the car was that the guy assured me repeatedly that the timing belt had been replaced at 130k; he even told me (repeatedly) that it had beendone by the local Lexus dealer. When I took it to the dealer a week after having bought it to have a vibration investigated, they repair guy said, "Hey, don't know if you know this, but we can't find any indication that the timing belt has been serviced." Waaaaat?! they checked the service record for the vehicle, checked under the hood; no record of timing belt replacement.

I went back to the used car dude I bought the car from and he said, of course, "Sorry. Sold as is." He went on and on about being a Christian and a straight shooter when he was selling me the car, but after the sale? Not so much.

So now my car is going into the shop next Tuesday to have the timing belt replaced. $1100 I didn't expect to have to spend for many years to come.

It's still a sweet ride, though.

Good deal. Nice color combo/package. You may have a better selection of owner sells down there.

Complete Lexus Service Records? One owner, all scheduled service from day one. LCA's done, recent new ML amp.
Private Party or Dealer: Dealer
How Long Did I Search: 3 months
City and State: Sacramento & Bay Area
Source: Craigs, Autotrader, brand name dealers.
Notes: it's hard to find good private sales in this area. The ones I did find were dealer price or higher. A good LS at a brand name dealer sells very quickly. I bought mine day it listed. Yes, I paid more but I got a 5 day "no questions asked" return policy. Had a mechanic inspect it ("excellent"). My "test drive" was 250 miles. The car has obviously been well maintained. I would not buy an LS without a full service history and independent (on rack) inspect.

Out here, it's 7-8k (private) for a good 01-03. Two dealers (Lex and Infinity) offered me 6,500 no trade in. (01 Base, 102k, perfect condition). It took a couple of weeks but I sold mine for 8. There's still a market for these cars.

curious what you're going to do about this....I sure wouldn't let it go. If the facts are as you say, I'd want to chat with the guys boss or owner, if that didn't yield, then stronger measures.

i look at it this way,if you dont have paper proof from the seller of every thing his flapping gums is saying it isnt so.change the belt and press on.
a salesmen wouldnt tell you the truth if the lord himself was standing next to him.
i love when someone lies or rips you off and says have a blessed day.
