Default Instrument Panel for Rear External Panel of Car

Gents,

I have a 2001 LS430 UL with 102k miles. It has been a champ with very minor issues.

I have a very curious alert where the drive indicator is lit on the center of the instrument panel, it shows the silhouette of a car with the rear quarter panels of the vehicles emanating waves outward (very awkward description indeed). I thought this would mean the rear marker lights were out or the back-up sensors were malfunctioning. I replaced a burned out tail lamp for the brakes and cleaned the sensors and still the indicator on the instrument panel and a very irritating five beep interior beeping chime every time the brakes are touched.

Any ideas?

What does it say on the display under the tach? Usually it tells you what to look for.
When I had a burned out stop light bulb this chime got me so annoyed that I changed it, the next day a second bulb blew, I changed it and ever since no annoying chime.

The waves emitting from the car image, are they the same as the waves you get from the parking sensors? I know you said you cleaned them, but the only reason I can think of that would cause the picture with waves. Maybe something tied into parking sensors.

Oh shoot, I got confused. I have one of my parking sensors glitch time to time. Cleaning will not help, replace only. Sensors start to short out and will go dead eventually. I replased one, the one that's glitching, with a used ebay unit. About 6 months after it started malfunctioning. So I would recommend getting a new, prepainted sensor from sewellparts.com, they have good discounts for CL members.

Thank you gentleman, that beeping is most irritating.
