Default Reupolster leather seats?

Howdy all, just joined. I am looking at a 2004 LS430 that has a drivers seat leather problem. What are the issues with re-ulpolstering a seat? Perhaps color mismatch and do the whole seat or what? I suspect the previous owner had a sweaty a$$ and never worried about it drying and cracking the leather? Any advice? Thanks. George

Take it to a professional auto upholstery shop. They'll remove the entire seat cover and replace just the panel of the seat that is bad. I had a Corolla that had a burned spot on the passenger's seat and took it to a local shop----matched the material perfectly and did a super job.

The shop will have catalogs listing different seat materials (colors/fabric, etc.) on various models of automobiles.

Try the kits that come from Katzkin leather. I've had 2 cars totally redone ( not my current Lexus ) and they both came out great! It will take less than a day to do. You just have to find a local installer! The match will be perfect!

Another approach would be to order a set of sheepskin seat covers. About $250 to $300 each.

Thanks all, anything I can do now to help keep the leather seats in great shape? I don't know if there is a fan under the seat to prevent sweaty butts.....yuck!

Regular upkeep with leather cleaner and leather conditioner will go a long way. Just make sure you're using quality products.

If you do not park in a garage or covered spot at home/work, invest in some quality window tint - do some research on the brands available from local tint installations and get something that has high UV protection & heat rejection. This will mean a more comfortable temperature when you get into the car after a long/hot day, as well as much more protection over time from drying out due to sun/UV.

the cl and u l's trims have heated and cooled seats so it will prevent butt sweatage...

Like others have said tinting the windows 20 percent or less will help to keep the uv light out and keep heat down
