I was told by a broker friend that they are in demand in China and being taken over there to be used as executive limousines.

Don't be fooled by your friend. Rich people in China buy the latest most expensive new models, middle/lower class people buy new cheap import or China made cars and poor people cannot afford and don't have cars at all. Maintenance of used cars, particularly for more expensive imports, in China is also a big problem because of lack of spare parts. Therefore, used LS old models have no market in China at all. Fyi, I have worked in China for decades and know the consumption pattern there..

Used car values are up at least 20% in the last couple years across the board. The "We Buy Junk Cars" business is thriving also. This is because people are opting to keep their older car and fix it rather than going and buying something new. Also, more people are opting to purchase used. This makes parts cars more valuable as well as quality used cars like the LS. As for me, my 01' LS will not leave my family until it no longer makes sense to fix it , however, it never breaks so it may be a LONG time. I think that is at least partially what we are all seeing.

I have sold 3 used cars and bought 3 used cars in the last 14 months so I have a real good idea what the used car market is doing. In my opinion it's still a buyers market for most cars. I sold a 2000 BMW 540 a 2001 Grand Cherokee Limited and a 2007 Acura TL Type S and they all sold well under KBB prices. The 2006 Acura. MDX and my 2002 LS430 were both bought. 15% - 20% under KBB. I did have a real hard time finding a nice LS from a private seller though. Most of them were from small used car dealers and I wont biy a used car from them. I want a car that's been taken care of and kept clean not just cleaned up to sell and you can spot those right away.
