Default Coil-overs Vs. Lowering springs? (again)(LS 430 03')

Ok, so I've already posted about coil-overs and lowering springs and last time I was completely sold on Coil-overs but after doing research it sounds to me like they are 10 times the cost for 2 times as many problems. Please correct me if I'm wrong. How long do coil-overs usually last? From what I read the EZ STREETS don't last very long at all. I'm not looking for almost a year of use i'm looking for YEARS of use. Would it be better to just look for more expensive & reliable coil-overs or should i go with lowering springs? Please anyone list pros and cons of both.

Hmmm at first I figured this was the same old thread, but this raises new questions for me as well. I had been sold on getting coilovers when I finally lower my car, but would also be keeping I this way for some time. I am interested to see what those in the know have to say.

There are far too many variables to consider when it comes to damper longevity. Driving style, road surface and general conditions, climate to some degree, coilover build quality etc...

Not LS related, but I've personally had a set of Tein CS' go over 70k miles before the dampening adjustment couldn't combat the dampers obvious aging on my old IS.

Seeing as how I put over 23k miles on my car last year, this effects me but I'm honestly not too worried about it when most coilovers can be rebuilt for $100-150 each.

As for springs vs coilovers? I slam my cars and need precise adjustment, so springs are a no go for me personally.

The average coilover can be assumed to last 2-3 years before needing a rebuild.

You think your OEM shocks will last that long on uprated springs? Nope.

Coil overs normally offer much more adjustments. If your looking for just a drop in ride height springs would be fine.

I agree with "Circuit" Plus you have an option of adjusting your shock stiffness versus a set OEM shock. Just go with the coil over setup an you'll be happy with it, trust us, most of us have been through the shock an spring set up b4 we moved onto the coil over set up. Major difference with shock rebound, stiffness, and shock life. I'd suggest to go with the BC coilover set up, because of the fact that you can go with a custom spring rate setup of your choice. i beleive they will come with a spring rate of 10k fronts and 8k in the rears. (FYI I'd go alittle stiffer in the fronts so they dont compress as much when climbing up the driveways i.e: 12k front and 10k rear but that's my opinion) good luck with your decision.

Thanks for the educated responses, guys. I will continue to save for coilovers as planned.
