So I have a 2001 LS430 with 176k on it. I haven't turned an unscheduled wrench on it until recently. I have two problems.

1. The wipers on auto setting:
When it's real hot 90-100+ F the wipers activate without warning when set to auto. No rain is present when this occurs. Now they will not function on the auto setting at all. I have checked the sensor on the windshield. It appears to be firmly secured and all fuses are good. I hate to blindly replace the wiper assembly on the column...Ideas?

2. My audio systems abruptly cuts in and out for 1-3 seconds. If I attempt to use the steering wheel audio controls, turn the system off, or otherwise manipulate any of the audio controlls non of them will function immediately following the occurence. After a period (under 1 minute) of time full function returns.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

 

I have a similar problem with my rain-sensing wipers. Heat is the cause, and the issue has to do with the seal if I recall correctly.
