The Ls430 has amazing brake clamping power. In my not so proud day of "spirited" driving against someone, I'd always worry about the car tailing behind me and the strength of their brakes.
I believe the Electronic Brake Assist actually monitors how fast the pedal is travelling when you step on the pedal and assists if necessary, not the full motion of the pedal where you have to jam it all the way down to get the assist. I've had times where I'll step on the brakes a little faster than usual and the brakes really bite down.
Glad to hear of course that accident avoided and everyone is safe. I know I've avoided situations in LS that I know I would have rear ended the person if I was in my RX.

Lexus brakes have saved me as well. Earlier this month, my mom and I were on a rural road, headed to see family, and there's a store with a small parking lot to the left of the road. All of the sudden, a gold Camry (why am I not surprised by this?) pulls out into the road way to fast, and slams on the brakes, and does a U-Turn, right in front of us. We must have been traveling over 65 mph. My mom slammed on the brakes, and the Lexus shuddered (issue with the motor mounts) to a stop, with room to spare. The Camry went on oblivious.

Back in the day, I was driving my 82 Supra about 40mph in town to work when I approached a stoplight which just turned yellow and I set the car down as I didn't want to chance going thru a red light. After stopping I heard tires schreeching behind be and look up in the mirror to see a jacked up pick up sliding toward me BACKWARDS!
He got stopped with his rear bumper about 6 inches over the top of my rear.

Glad you're okay! But you gotta give props to your tires too.... they play a huge part in the braking system as well.

I also got firsthand proof of how well the LS brakes about a month ago. Traveling along a rural road at night, doing about 55, I spotted a deer well up ahead. Never trusting deer I actually had myself braced to brake, but as I got closer it just stood there looking at me. Then, at the last second it bolted across the road. I slammed on the brakes and the car came to a stop in the blink of an eye. No wandering, no skidding.. I had complete control. I missed a venison dinner by about 2 feet. I can't even begin to express how impressed I was. Tires are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S.

Was this in Northern Virginia, the route 95 portion that is always backed up? Alot of construction going on with 495 and 95, those coming from the North and needing to get on South 95, should take 495 through the Tysons area, then get on 66 west and take the 234 bypass down to 95, I bet this route can save you much time if traffic is backed up.

For a car 100 pounds short of 2 tons. It's one of the best features about this car! I've been to the BMW track here in Greenville SC. They let you pull your whole body and stand on the brakes to stop. On M1, M3, and M5s. My last car was a 5 serries and the brakes were the best thing about that car. For such a large car the LS is GREAT!
