I've joined the LS430 club for $7000

I picked up this 2001 LS430. Navigation, ML, that's about it. Has a little dent on one side. The driver's side window goes up, then comes down on it's on, doesn't wanna go up as if the sensor think it's hitting something. $7,000. 160k miles. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks. I'm reading the forums to catch up.

sounds like a good deal... 7k is a great price point for entry into the ls430 club... that driver's side window sounds like a pain tho...

all the other stuff i think you could live with...

also, try to find out what maintenance has been done or needs to be done... at 160k, you'll definitely need the timing belt and water pump replaced if it hasn't been done already...

congrats!

I have a 2004 ML, windows will go down but does not want to go up, can't figure out what the issue is.
Driver side.

You are a hero at $7,000! If nothing major is necessary, you can figure another $1,000 to get the odds and ends done and you will have a daily driver. Good for you. Is the nav, rear subwoofer, and all the electrics in working order? Do you have the records of the timing belt/water pump replacement?

Nice grab and you got nav. Are those chrome rims? Welcome to the club.

Nav, subwoofer, all electronics in working order. I drove it 3 hours home. Don't have the records. They put 80,000 miles in the last 4 yrs. Lots of highway driving. Bought it from a lawyer, hoping he took care of it, but that don't mean nothing.

Yes, chrome rims.

Congrats. Register the VIN on lexus.com to get the service history. If there were no service records from when the lawyer owned the car, try calling independent import service garages in his area. Often, indie mechanics know their cars like they know their kids - probably better.

Nice catch for $7K. Amazing car and great value - you can probably drive it for 5 years and sell for $4-5k if you take care of it.

Congrats! Looks pretty nice barring that fender bumper work.
At least you won't have to replace the panel.

Bocatrip 08-06-11 07:30 PM

You have the kind of car that can actually be abused and beat to death and will run relatively trouble free. It's that well built!

wow congrats sounds like a good deal
