2001 LS 430 Navigation problem
I have 2001 LS430 and this week on start up I got a message in the navigation display "no Disk Detected". No GPS function at this time, radio and ac work without problem. Any troubleshooting and repair help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the club. It does that once in a while when you are in a sheltered place or parked on a hill. Just drive to another location and restart the car. It it occurs every other day then you may have problems with the Nav unit. You can also remove the disk and make sure it's clean
I've seen this before. Happened to the parent's 01 LS, like you. The nav unit is bad and needs to be replaced. I replaced it with my unit from my GS.
There is a company in SFV that fixes these; I sold the old unit to them to refurb. I don't know how much to fix. You can contact them below.
Or you can watch the classified or ebay for a replacement to pop up.

i had the same problem in my 02 and i purchased a gen 4 off ebay for $425 and it works great.. i just need to figure out how to remove the saved addresses and set up automatic i agree. don't know what the last blue connector is for either..maybe bluetooth.
). Thanks.
I assume this only required change out the Nav unit in the trunk and purchasing a gen 4 DVD? I'm sure this is discussed elsewhere on this site but.. could you comment on any perceived benefit of going from a gen 3 to gen 4? My 02 LS430 UL nav is fine, but I really want to get integrated BT and backup cam. I know there are many aftermarket solutions that integrate with the gen 3 system, but am wondering if installing a gen 4 would simplify this effort *and* gain me some nav benefits (lord knows I'm not currently 'showing off' my current nav system to friends.
). Thanks.
). Thanks.Thread
