Trunk air springs too long!
I got a pair of those trunk air springs on the ebay and now it seems they are a tick too long to just pop on. I would have to compress them alittle to install them but that's almost impossible. Is there a way to over-open the trunk? maybe removing both shocks?

There's a little tab thingy on the hinges that you release to allow the trunk to open further so you can get them on.

Aaaaand DONE! Thanks so much! I was about to spend half a day figuring out how to compress the shocks and install! 44 bucks and 5 minutes. I love the internet again! |
Yeap, was fighting with it until noticing the tabs )))

Looks like this is a common problem. Maybe this weekend I will do a photo step by step.

When you look at the hinge you will see two small black plastic tabs. One near the bottom of the hinge and one near the top. the one near the top keeps the trunk lid from over-opening. If you carefully remove the top tabs (you will want to replace them when you are done) you can open the trunk that 1/4 inch you need to snap the lift into place. |
Ill check it out. I purchased mine from Advance auto.. Armstrong brand. cost only 32 for the pair
