Panic stops in an LS are no issue. The brake assist is the best I've experienced in nearly 20yrs of being in the motor trade. Smash the pedal,and the car will do the rest,pulling up way faster than you ever could with your own foot pressure...

All domestic LS430s have brake assist, Lexus added it with the LS400 in 2000. PCS started in '04. Do Australian units not have it?

I agree - not worth getting into it with strangers on the street unless its a life or death thing. Just to clarify I was not trying to provoke anything or to be a hard guy with this dude. But given how weird the event at the intersection was - we were just very curious as to who was driving the truck - I was thinking maybe a very old person or a teenager texting - something like that. Then when I saw the jailbird looking guy acting nervous it just clicked as to what had just likely happened. If he had made any physical move toward us we would certainly not have engaged if at all possible.

O the freeway the other day and I had to come to a quick stop from like 60 to 0 and I was impressed. The idiot in front of me in a 94 legend slammed on brakes so hard he almost was sideways on the guardrail. The LS stoped in a straight line. I guess the aren't as bad as I thought after all. But not the best way to find out thoo.

Tires are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus.
After a year and a half the rotors are fine and a stopping power is much better then stock.

I have recently installed new rotors and pads, and just today bled the brake system, but still have that spongy feel to the pedal.
I know the brakes are supposed to come on smooth, but the top half of my brake pedal is a bit of a dead spot. All that happens for the first half of the pedal travel is the brake light comes on.
I dont even feel it start to bite until the bottom half of the pedal. I would have thought bleeding the system would rectify the problem, but apparently not.
Any solutions? SS lines?

That sounds like there's still an issue with the system dude. There should be some 'freeplay' in the pedal but nothing like half of the travel,especially with new discs and pads.
I suggest you re-bleed the system manually both at the master,and at the wheels to make sure there isn't any air trapped anywhere. If it doesn't improve after that I'd be looking at replacing the master cylinder.
Braided lines won't hurt the cause,but they're unlikely to make a marked difference.
What pads did you put in? Std bendix have pretty average efficiency,the set I had in my car previously needed a lot more pedal effort to pull the car up than the TRD pads I'm running now.

I got rotors from myplanetlex dot com and ended up getting bendix pads. I originally wanted the EBC redstuff, but didnt want to wait several weeks, as apparently the reds are on back order from EBC.
I opted out of the TRD or Endless, because....well.....I dont like the idea of paying a few hundred for pads.
Ill try re-bleeding the system. My old man helped me out and he was adamant that the master cylinder does not need bleeding at all so that didnt get done.
