Default Timing Belt LS430

I Have a 2004 ls430 and have been told serveral different stories. Some have told me that the ls430 has a chain type timing belt and others have told me that it has a material type belt that needs to be changed. If it does have a belt that has to be changed at how many miles should this be done? My car has 82,000 and runs like it just came out of the showroom.

Welcome. Timing belt (not chain) is on a 90K 6 year change cycle. Also do the water pump and some other stuff to be safe. $1500-$2K at the dealer. About $600 for parts if you DIY (IIRC). Plenty of threads about this.
