Default 2006 LS 430 Shocks

At the Sewell Lexus website, I recently bought front shocks for my 02 SC430. The shocks were bout $40 a piece. But for the 06 LS 430 the shocks are bout $200 a piece with the same part number and they look the same for both.

Anyone know what gives?

What is the part number? I just checked and got 2 different ones. Or you could even call and ask.

It was 48510 RH and 48520 LH. Maybe what you saw was a PN for the air ride and a PN without air ride.

ive noticed that the sport shocks for the ls are really cheap compared to the standard. Ill bet the sc uses those sport version shocks.

I don't know about the SC but the LS has struts and not shocks; struts are always more expensive.

Question, at what mileage is it advisable to replace the struts anyway? I may just change to the sports for the firmer ride, would like to know if Im due anyway.

george T, and muti Thats a double wishbone. no mc phearson struts. The LS uses shocks. the LS would never cheapen itself to be a strut car. struts are only ok on mid engine or rear engine cars that you steer with the back end anyway. cars with front motors and struts are pure rubbish, rough riding, bad handling crap. Not the LS line. For struts, look to the ES line

When mine were replaced, it was referred to as strut replacement. A search of parts vendors lists shock/strut assembly for the front suspension. I do agree that pure strut systems are best relegated to lower performance cars.

Lower performance cars? Dont most BMWs use a strut setup? Generalizing isnt a great thing to do IMO.
