Default 72 Month Accident Free...not anymore

A month ago or so i got my insurance renewal in the mail and i was so happy that my rate went down and that i was 72 month accident free while doing 35-40k miles a year and this morning this happens

I was on my way to Newark airport and some retard in a white MB doing 65 mph side swiped me trying to cut everyone to get on 1&9. I was in the left lane and out of nowhere i just hear booom, almost pushing into a divider. Now my right side is all messed up and i can see some kind of oil/fluid dripping on the ground. No idea whats gonna happen with the car. 195k miles with this damage and i dont even have full coverage.

Any advice guys?

glad you were not hurt. I hope he does have insurance - since he is at fault his insurance should cover the repairs or give you a check if it's totalled out.

That's a shame. hopefully you'll be able to get it fixed rather than have it totaled and have to get a new car.

I'm sure he lied to the cops and i think he was either high or drink. I even saw him cleaning out his car and stuffing some stuff in his bag. Yet, when i mentioned this to the cops they said there is nothing they can do.

Did he provide you his insurance info so that you can make a claim? Do report this to your insurance ASAP so that they can get ball rolling. Hope everything work out for you and what a beautiful condition for 195k miles car especially black .

That sucks! It always seems like nice days where I'm minding my own business some ******** not paying attention comes along and crashes into my car. I've experienced a hit and run before and it's really frustrating to deal with (any accident is really, even if you're clearly not at fault). Good luck on getting things resolved.

The MOST important thing to do is take pictures immediately the way how the both car sits. Proof is right there that he is in YOUR lane.

If you guys moved your car after it happened without taking any picture, it's going to be harder to defend if the bastard lied.

It's true that the cops can't do anything b/c they didn't see the accident happen. They can only write down both parties info and what each driver said and witness (hopefully)-they can't make a judgement. Plus, they only come out if there's an injury.

If you don't have full coverage, his insurance will be the one covering for it (if they accept liability-if New York works this way).

car looks mint otherwise with having 195k. Do the old bondo job ......and paint it. No need to spend money on replacing doors with your miles i would say. The fender you might need to replace. After that just drive it till it dies and update us on what mileage you have. This should be the official Club Lexus Ls430 test vehicle to see how many miles an LS can last in NYC!! LOL

First, welcome to the 195K miles club. Hope you get to keep it for longer. I'm pushing for at least 300K on mine, hopefully longer.

Second, If you were side-swiped, I'm pretty sure he's at fault here. Realistically its the Insurance company's fault for jinxing you =)
