Default 2004 LS430 Nav Issue

Hi guys, I have a 2004 LS430, and am having issues with the NAV, radio, and climate.

when the car is on, the screen says lexus then it goes blank.
1. Then when u hit the nav button it says " external system in not connected"
2. Then when u hit the climate control button it says " check connectiion of the air conditioner"

it is the nav screen or the harddrive or something else?

thanks.

I would start with checking the the connections behind the nav screen. Are they all plugged in, no wires tampered with?

The 2004 doesn't have a hard drive. The map data comes from the DVD and the system is booted up from the Nav ECU's firmware/ROM/EEPROM/whatever they use.

I agree with Stan.
There's about 3 plugs that goes back there. I would start there too and also, don't forget to check the fuses.

do a search for member scubbadog(?). he has a good tutorial on the nav removal.

Look in the trunk and see if all the connectors to the amp, GPS, and backup camera are connected. See my recent post about stereo for a photo of the components in the trunk if needed.

i checked all connectors in truck and they're all good, i even removed all connnectors and connected them again just to be sure. the car came with XM radio from Lexus, i thought that was the issues, so i removed the XM radio and still same issue.

I got the same message when I pulled the plug out of the backup camera in the trunk.

I'm sure you've done this, but had to ask - checked all the fuses? Even if the fuses look good on visual inspection I would test them with a multimeter or try swapping fresh ones in - you never know.

my screen was blank when i blew a fuse replacing the trunk light with an LED bulb. heard it pop. i never hit any of the other buttons like radio or climate, so i don't know if it said anything. once i replaced the fuse in the trunk everything was working fine again.
