Take it to a Toyota dealer. For repair or scheduled maintenance, the wife's LS goes to a local Toyota dealer (far cheaper than Lexus). For warranty repair, naturally it goes to the Lexus dealer. It's nothing more than an expensive Toyota anyway.

Automotive perfection always declines over time, nothing lasts forever EXCEPT Lexus auto tranny fluid.

People used to ask me ALL the time why I owned an old car that had problems ?
Even though I still liked driving the car, I sold it and got something newer .....

Problems solved, but my bank account took a hit, lol

Just took my 03 that I bought in July, now at 60100, on a 2400 mile trip. Did the 60k service at JM before I left. I feel bad for your experience, but this is by far the best car I have ever owned. By far! And I still have my 99 LS with 188,000 on it. It ranks second on the list. My brother is begging me to sell it to him.

It took me a total of 30 minutes to fix including a ten minute trip to the hardware store.
Wheres the info for that

Wow, we haven't mentioned transmission fluid in a couple weeks around here. I knew something was missing. LOL

This works if you can hear the internal tilt gear turning but the wheel doesn't go up and down.

i work for napa auto parts, been a service writer and a mechanic....trust me when i tell u that bmw and mercedes are not a better built car,so for all those german car owners who tell u differently....they are flat out bull***ing you. look at the reliability on a 7 series....garbage! 540's...horrible! the 3 series are a little better but the electronics in the cars suck and they just had issues with thte 3 series frames being inadiquate

ooops! sorry u r having issues but go ahead and get urself a mercedes and watch ur bank account dwindle
click this consumer report on most relibale cars and scroll down to luxury cars
http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/c...-used-cars.htm
ooops! who's at the top of the list?!

Python makes a valid point and working at NAPA Im sure he see's who comes and goes with problems regarding all makes and models. For the most part, any car is capable of having issues. Its like buying a item of any sort and if that item has a good reputation for quality, you just so happened to get the bad item out of 100! Say in your case 90-95 cars made would be flawless besides normal wear and tear and you got 96-100 meaning, the 5 bad ones in the bunch.

Pursuit of Perfection is a phrase, thats all. LEXUS bar none has the more reliable of the Luxury makes when compared to BMW/Mercedes/Audi/Jaguar/Cadillac/Infiniti one car I dont include is Acura, some dont agree but, I feel Acura is a luxury brand. We cant put them down when we were looked at like Acura is now, a few years back. In some cases Benz/BMW/Audi/Jag owners still view us like Acura.

Acura may be the only company that makes a equally reliable car or even better. If you buy from a Lexus dealer or a private owner who took better care of there Lexus, you would be feeling alot better about Lexus now. Just got a bad apple in a bunch of good ones buddy. Sorry you went through this. With all Lexus does I feel is wrong, I cant say anything about there track record in terms of reliability! Anyone who's read my post before knows, I will speak the truth about Lexus, good or bad. This one time I can say, Lexus is the tops in terms of reliability buddy. I sincerely hope you find a resolution to your issue! LGNM

EVERYBODY makes a lemon, it just happens... especially for a "mass market" luxury make like Lexus (and BWM, MB, etc.). It's just a matter of how many they make... 0.1%, 1%, or 10%. My thoughts with buying used has always been that if it was a traded in vehicle, then either it's had issues or for whatever reason was not good. I would much rather prefer off-lease vehicles with good service history. Private party, forgetabout it...

Interesting comment on off lease versus private party used cars...there are always exceptions but that makes a lot of sense. Very insightful post - thanks

Why anyone brings their car to a stealership after the warranty is up is beyond me. You realize their service techs are usually paid via commission only.
Find a private shop and cut your repair costs by 75%.
