Go to ebay and type '7440 led' for the tail and brake lights.
And type 'T10 led' for the licence plate.

They numbers are the type of bulb required, but they are manufactured as led's and still keep the same numbers.

They are very generic bulbs. Millions to choose from on ebay.

We carry Putco premium 7440 LED bulbs.

We have had many ClubLexus members install our 194 High power LED bulbs to upgrade the license plate and courtesy lights to LED.

The footwell and handle lights require changing the bulbs via soldering. I bought individual component LED bulbs and replaced the olds bulbs which were soldered on a circuit board. The LED bulb sizes that you can use are either 3mm or 5mm bulbs.

Do the footwell lights stay on whenever the car is running? Or time in and out like the dome lights do when you open the door?

I want to change them to bright white via soldering obviously, but not if they stay on all the time.

Dear roman tpa,

i have problem, seems unsolvable forever:

All the lights are o.k. But i have warnning signal "tail lamp failure" when i turn head light on. I went to machanics(not
dealer-because i am so scare of them), and check all the fuses and change all the bulbs. But still, "tail lamp failure" is showning.

And the mechanics gave up.
Now, my only hope is answer from angel like you, roman, or
should i go to see scaring dealer?

Pls, give me idea what possibley could be the problem?

I will really thank to your kind advice, or any tip!!

The footwell lights are constant but dims out when the car is moving or when the gear is out of Park.

As for the tail lights, are you using LEDs for bulbs?

Thanks very much for this thread-I could never work out what the normal bulb was when trying to replace normal bulbs in my LS400. I am about to change to a LS430 after 2 years of LS400 ownership. My 400 has one LED replacement-a blue 24 LED panel in the overhead light, which looks fantastic-I'll remove it before I sell the 400 to put it in my 430.

Couple of things,

"Tail light out" could mean anyone filament in a bulb could be burned out on anyone of he lights in the rear (on some cars that includes blinkers, reverse lights, and tag lights too.)

If you or previous owner installed an LED bulb, that [a lot] of the time could cause that too (because LED uses less power than a standard bulb, car thinks light is not on)

What I recommend. Get someone to push your brakes for you in the evening with your headlights on. Check all the lights make sure that no bulbs are burnt out or lighting up differently. If all bulbs are fine, check them all to see if they are LED or regular bulbs. If you find any bad bulbs or LEDs, replace them and check the dash to see if the warning light turned off.

punch in any of those part numbers from post #1 into ebay and you should get thousands of hits on LED or SMD lights. The SMD lights are normally $6-10 USD on ebay and are waaaaaaaay brighter than regular $1 LEDs.

I have spend about $35 to replace all of the main lights about a year ago with SMD lights (about 12 or 14 bulbs total) and everything is still perfect

EDIT: the under the dash lights and door handle lights are always on (with ignition) and dim when car goes into [Drive]. just like mrsandman said

I GOT THE LEDs FROM THIS GUY.. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM FOR THE QUALITY VS. PRICE

Anyone deal with luxurymods.com or v-leds.com? I'm thinking of putting a kit together for the LS430. If anyone has other recommendation, please inform me! Thanks
