HeLp..Driver Door wont open from inside

My 2001 Ls driver's side door wont open from the inside.. This just happened outta the blue earlier today..
I actually had to let the window down and open it from the outside. Extremely ghetto to do in a Lexus i know...I did try playing with the lock but it wouldnt budge as if it had a child safety lock on.. This needs to be addressed asap..

I haven't had a chance to investigate and see what it takes to remove the panel yet due to it being dark out right now... But any help would be greatly appreciated or a step by step on removing the panel or what to possibly watch out for before attempting to remove the door panel... Thanks in advance club members

Hey I sent you a PM earlier, but honestly I would take it to the dealer. It was a PITA to do it myself and it isn't exactly perfect (seems like I have to 'tug' a bit harder on the handle to get it to open). I wonder why Lexus made such a poor quality door mechanism on their flagship. It seems as though this is a recurring problem with other owners too. Sorry I wasn't of much help :/

I'm a klutz and have messed up too many door panels in the past. I would take it to a competent mechanic or the dealer.

Sounds like a broken cable, or the cable is dis-connected from the handle. MIGHT be looking at a new door latch assembly....Id pull the door panel and look. Its not that hard....:uh:

UPDATE: So I went to a local audio shop and had them pull the panel to diagnose my problem. I was to be charged 35 bucks upfront..So I paid and 10 seconds later the panel was off.. what a waste of 35 bucks. Anyways.. Turns out my door handle cable was snapped and with a quick trip to the local Lexus dealer and $36.48 my cable was bought. Turns out i got the lock cable not the handle cable..So part will be in this weekend.. I got quoted 25 dollars to install through the audio shop which beats out Lexus' quote of 150 an hour.. I'll update post this weekend once it is completed.. Thanks for the feedback club members....

That doesn't sound like a wasted $35 to me. I wonder what the cost of a new door panel would be after I screwed it up?

So I got the right part this morning and went to the audio shop.... I only got charged 20 dollars for the install and now I'm good to go..... Sure glad I didn't get squeezed from the dealer......

Thanks people...:woot:

Dirtyd210 - i have the same problem, do you by chance know the part number i cant figure which of the 4 i keep seeing is accurate for the handle cable not the lock cable. Ive come accross 69760c and 69720b. II have to roll the window down to open driver door from the outside. Locks work fine i just cant open the driver door from the inside the car. it really sucks.
