Default Can you Turn/Switch Off the ODO meter?

I have a 04 LS 430 and would like to know if you can turn or switch off the ODO meter? I drive A LOT on a daily basis and do not want to see the mileage pile up!! I usually use the trip meter as my reminders.

Also, does anyone know if you are able to switch the cluster displays to another color other than orange?

Thanks!

Is this a joke? This is both illegal and immoral.

If the number bothers you that much, put some electrical tape over that part of the instrument cluster.

Edit: I realized you may just be asking if there's a way to turn the display off without stopping the odometer from counting up. If that's the case, I don't think you can easily.

He's probably comparing the odo display to the DIC in other cars that allow you to cycle the display among data like odo, trip odo, avg. MPG, instant MPG, etc. When this option first came out, the Cadillac forums had a number of people that kept the display set on "Miles remaining until empty". Some folks discovered that it was only an estimate as they coasted to a stop, out of gas.

^^^
Wear the mileage as a badge of pride. Lexus should have those 100K badges for the grille like Volvo used to have.

exactly

it's not like it's a bmw or mb where you are worried that the warranty is going to run out before your lease is up

well in my case i have never owned a car for more than like 3 years straight and i am always concerned about re-sale value and as much as i love driving my car, it doesn't help the resale at all...

Be careful, that could get worse as you age

Is anyone actually concerned about their car's mileage for any reason other than depreciation? I haven't heard of people wearing an LS430 out.

The only ones who should worry about mileage are those that got CPO or extended warranty of some sort from dealerships. Riding the LS430 to 200K is like nothing.

yeah i have no issues 'at all' with putting 180k+ on the odo but i just fear what kbb or who ever is the next perspective buyer will offer me when that time comes, hell even lex tried to kick me in the nuts when i tried to trade in my last gs400 with like 108k miles on the odo... "well she does have some miles on her, i'll give you $5,000"... yeah not so much.

I don't buy and drive my car with any concern about the next buyer and maximizing the value by placing any restrictions on it. I want to enjoy the car to the maximum for what it is. Why would I do anything to minimize that?

i am certainly not doing anything to minimize my enjoying (i.e. mileage) my LS,, just saying that i am constantly reminded that i do drive it a lot... i just put 500 miles in the last 6 days and didn't even go out of town, well not out of the DC area at least.
