TSIB repair
Question:
If a TSIB is created by Lexus and the document states the repair will take 1.0 hours, wouldn't you expect the Lexus dealer to use that for their estimate?
I need a repair done and my local Lexus dealer is telling me it will take 2.0 -2.5 hours to repair. However the TSIB states it will take 1.0. WTH?
Would a smackdown with the Service Manager resolve this disconnect? Any advice on how to solve this problem?

I would show the service advisor the TSIB and politely ask why your repair would take longer. They may be padding their estimate so you are pleasantly surprised with a lower total when you pick up the car. Then again, they may be padding the estimate to pay for the new espresso machine in the waiting area.
Warranty repair time is charge to the factory, not the general public. Generally the time the factory pays to have a concern resolved is not a realistic time, therefore the dealerships will charge a bit mor. Now on that note, the dealer is charging 150 percent more than what the factory is paying. That is a bit, No way too high. A resonable mark up would be 160 percent. Therefore they should be charging 1.6 labor hours for the repair. Speak with the service manager and try to reason with him. Good Luck!!!!
Sorry, my math was off. If the dealership want to charge 2.0 - 2.5 hours more, than they are charging 200 to 250 percent mark up. But I still stand by the 160 percent markup. That is reasonable. Once again, GOOD LUCK!!!
