Default Another switch fix option

I had previously cleaned the switch to get mine working again and then both sides stopped working (the auto adjust worked) so I knew it was the switch again...took it apart and the problem was the plastic mounts that the two little screws that hold the switch together had cracked and the internal contacts were loose, not dirty.

The mounts were so brittle they cracked off so did not even try gluing. I took 3 small nylon tie wraps and strung them together thru small holes I put in the outer mount plastic and tightened them to hold the switch tight together....works just fine.

My 05 LS is doing the same thing. What do you guys suggest I use to clean the contacts with? Q-tips and any specific chemical? Anyone have pics of this procedure on an 04-06?

Same as above for yours. Should be no problem.

Sorry for my ignorance, but once I pull the unit out, how exactly do I clean it?

Thank you for this thread. I would have spent a lot of money for just cleaning the terminals. My Right side mirror was stuck and I was told taht I may nee dto change the switch or the mirror. Tahnk God I did not get it replaced. After seeing this thread I pulled the mirror switch panel. The connector was not in completely with some play. I pulled it out cleaned the terminals and put it back. The mirror is back to action. Hope it will stay like that.

Do I just clean out the terminals with a qtip? Do I need to use any type of solvent? dor just make sure all the connections are tight and there is dust?

Thanks in advance.

Nevermind. I need to learn to read a little closer. One of the first posts says it quite clearly: Q-TIP AND CONTACT CLEANER . I'll try it this weekend or next and report back.

message numbers;12-15. My outside mirror will not retract or open all the way. It goes so far and stops and just "click, click, click" Passenger side mirror works fine. I have removed the control panel but that does not change things. Any thoughts?

If the switch looks clean and is fully operational, then the mirror is likely bad. It is an expensive part - approx $600 to replace. Definitely a rare weak spot on these cars.

Drifter tech! haha~~ joke. Zip-Tie, or Tie-Wraps as we call in Japan, solves 10000 issues on cars!

Default Wow- thanks!

Man, am I glad I found this forum. Our local dealer wanted $760.00 to replace the driver's side mirror for this symptom. Took it apart, cleaned everything up, works perfect- This thread rocks. Thanks, guys for posting pics!
