Default New Wheels for Old Man

Hey, my brother, BlackAsh, just got me these new wheels for my birthday. My wife says they look like they belong on a kid's car and are "too shiny". I wanted something different than the original equipment and like the simplicity of the design. I love the wheels and the wife will just have to get used to them. Oh, and before I get ragged on about the pin stripe I have been told by professionals that since it has been on the car for almost 4 years it would probably leave a "shadow" if removed.

I saw where El Toro couldn't make that last meet so we owe you one. When is the next one? If I am still married by then.

I think next month for SELOC but I'm sure we can put together a mini meet together for the LS430 crew. Give me some dates you are free and I will contact everyone, and the wife will get over it (They always do) just give time.

That is an interesting question because with the UL's air suspension I didn't think that it would matter. However, just during the 3 mile ride home the ride seemed different. Like I could "feel" more of the road through the steering wheel. Also, they are filled with nitrogen, so would that make a difference?

Thanks for the moral support Tee. I am pretty much free the whole month and haven't made any plans yet, even though the wife has the rest of the month off for vacation. A mini meet sounds great.

Of course the obvious question would be why didn't you show your wife the wheels before you bought them? Well I asked her to pick me up at the tire store so she could see what was going on the car. But nooooo she was too busy shopping and could not drive the 6-7 miles over to pick me up so I walked the 3 miles home in the 90 degree heat. That's what makes me so mad about her not liking them, as she had the chance to OK them and didn't take it.

Tell her you needed a new set of nice wheels so you could mount a set of winter tires on the stock wheels. Global warming, er cooling, whatever.

Great idea but it doesn't snow in Atlanta but maybe once every few years. tks anyway. She likes the style just not the chrome. Does anyone seen what "hyper silver" looks like? TSW has a Montage (my style) in Hyper Silver.

But with climate change, you never know: snow, ice, locusts, frogs...

However, I do see her point. I'm not a big fan of chrome wheels.

I kept the standard wheels when I purchased my 92 SC400 as I didn't care for chrome at that time. I have chrome on my 04 LS40 UL and they just make the car! Tastes change with the times. How wonderful that your brother would give you such a gift. Hope your wife gets over it.
