Where is the VIN sticker on/near the trunk? Want to confirm that a car I'm looking at hasn't been hit in the rear, it doesn't look like it has, but I don't see a VIN sticker on the trunk, rear bumper, etc.. not sure where Lexus put it so I can't really say that the panel was replaced...

There's a vin# in the trunk behind the carpet panel on the rightside quarter panel...i don't know if a dealer is gonna let you pull the trunk apart to get to it but it's there.
Run a CarFax on the car. If it has had significant damage, paid for by an insurance policy, it will show up.

That greatly depends on the insurance company. One of my cars had thousands in damage, it has a clean car fax. A race car we built from a totalled car also has a clean car fax. It's not required for insurance companies to provide that information.
bonafyd: So it's on the inner quarter panel itself, and not on the trunk lid?

^^^ Yes, I personally know of several examples like yours. Carfax is a hit or miss deal for sure. If it says a car has problems, it probably does. If it comes back clean, it doesn't necessarily mean anything and you'd still better investigate as if you don't know anything about the car.
