If you just a little mechanically inclined, and you are just replacing the pads and leaving rotors as is, then the hardest part (by far) of the project is jacking up the car safely and then correctly dismounting and remounting the wheels. The part of the project of pulling and replacing the actual pads is a 5 min (max) very simple operation.

This is a very simple job to do. As others have said, the hardest part is lifting the heavy wheels to mount and dismount.

Default removing sensor

2. most cars the fronts do wear out faster than the rears, so you could be able to replace just the fronts. You have to check the wear.

3. I've found Irontoad.com to always be competitive and most times better than others.
How do you remove the sensor to solder or replace. Seems like two wires with no disconnect?

I replaced my front and rear brake pads yesterday with TRD items. They're still bedding in but the improvement from Bendix front and std toyota (sumitomo) rears is quite noticeable.

I'll also be fitting some goodridge braided lines next week.

Can supply part numbers for the lot if anyone's interested.
Direct from Japan the lot cost me ~$550AUD incl. freight. Money well spent IMHO.

I am curious about the Goodrich stainless steel braided drake lines. Where did you get them and how do they work? Please let us know, thank you.

I bought the lines direct from Japan, which is curious,as they're made in England...

The benefit of braided lines is improved pedal feel and reduced pressure loss due to minimised hose expansion when under pressure. They look pretty too,but I bought them for the performance improvement.

I have a followup - what's the torque setting for the wheel lugs? I have to go buy a torque wrench - any suggestions? I do have a compressor so I suppose I could borrow a air wrench from the local auto parts store. Any suggestions and thanks for this great writeup - my brake wear warning came on yesterday and I siad to myself as I was trying to get to sleep - F-that, I am not paying someone to do this.

The specified torque for the wheel nuts is 103 N.m = 10,5 m.kg = 76 ft.lbf

Search the threads on brake sensor and there is one with pictures, but trace the sensor back to just behind the caliper assembly and you'll see the connection point. It's a simple clip over design, like headlights. Trace it, you'll see it.

Could some comment pros & cons of upgrading to ceramic pads, like EBC Redstuff?
