Regarding the front shocks, are you saying that the strut mount 48680-50110 comes with the spring insulator 48257-22070?

Also, what are the big top washers 48680-22050 and 48755-50110? And for the rear, where does the rubber insulator for the spring 48258-50020 go? Do you have these on a component diagram? I don't see them on my diagrams. 48257-50020 is listed as the spring insulator.

Thanks for all of your info!

This may sound dumb, but do I need to double this parts list to cover both sides on the front and back?

Would all of the parts be the same for a 01-03UL?

Looks like this job may be in my near future..... Is this part list valid for my 2004 430UL?

So do I have to go to a Lexus dealer for these parts?

I just put new tires on the car and there was some very uneven wear. And the driver's rear is very low so It seems that now is the time.

60k miles on car. Not very thrilled with the options. I expected longer life out of a Lexus.

The original part list is for the 04-06 LS430. You can get everything from your Lexus dealer or from Sewell on here.

I just purchased parts from Sewell to do the conversion on my 01 UL. I will give comments on the parts, etc. once done. I am planning on having a shop do the install and was quoted $659 for labor.

Does anyone know where the compressor is? I haven't looked, but will need to pull the fuse on the compressor so I don't get an error light.

I just wanted to say thank you for this thread. I had my mechanic perform the conversion on my 2004 UL and OMG what a difference! The car has over 100k miles and drives so tight and is a pleasure to drive again especially after driving a while on the blown shocks. I look forward to curves once again and have seen my milage tick up now with the lower profile. I do however have to get accustomed to driveways and steep garages as the length of the car tends to accentuate the drop in height. I will post some pic soon. Thanks again to all who have contributed to this thread.

The air suspension ECU can think all he wants The air compressor's fuse is in the fuse box right next to the battery in the engine compartment. Look in the back of the fuse box cover to see the location of the fuse, it is the 2nd small one from the right.
Found it!

Alright, I got the conversion done last week. The parts needed for a 2001 UL (and I assume 01-03) are:

Front
90950-01310
48603 (RH) and 48609 (LH)
48680 (parts 48157B (RH) and 48157C (LH) are included)
48510 (RH) and 48520 (LH)
Tanabe Springs NF210 or 48131 (RH) and 48132 (LH)

Rear
48755A
48755
48341A (RH) and 48341B (LH)
48257C (RH) and 48259A (LH)
48258A
48530 (RH) and 48540 (LH)
Tanabe Springs NF210 or 48231A and 48231B (if you order the Lexus springs you do not need part #48258A. It will be included.)

All of the other parts and nuts are interchangeable and can be reused from the air setup.

All parts ordered from Sewell were $852.31 including shipping. The Tanabe springs were bought off ebay for $224.00 including shipping. The labor was $660 including alignment and took an entire day (9 hours). So all told, I spent $1736.31 to replace the suspension.

The ride feels much better and it doesn't feel like you are hitting a curb each time you go over a bump anymore. The technician told me that all 4 bags had slits in them.

Here are the pics:

Woo Hoo! Guess I'm next. Today I got my air suspension swapped for OEM Sport Shocks and Tanabe NF210 springs. Total cost was $1265. I dropped the car off at 8:00am and by 2:30 pm it was done alignment and all.
Parts cost was $900 from Sewell and EBay (springs), labor was $300 + $65 alignment. I removed the rear seat prior to going to mechanich hence the low labor cost.
Ride. I can't say for sure yet.....its different, stiffer, nimbler, not wallowy. As all components break in and I get used to it, drive on all sorts of roads, I will keep you posted.
One thing I am happy about right away is stance. The car looks absolutely amazing lowered. Pics coming soon!
Boomer01 thank you very much for providing a great parts list and guide.

Absolutely, any coilover designed for the LS430 will work. Not an issue at all.

Default Tein Comfort Sport Coilovers

Well I am also have the same issue now that both rear shocks are dying on me and the ride quality is bouncy to say the least. Now I am going the coilover route using Tein Comfort Sport Coilovers (Part # GSY66-K1SS3) and Steve Ganz (SUPRATRD) at Carson Toyota (l-tunedparts.com) is getting these for me however they are on backorder right now (60+) day wait. Anyways my question to you guys do I need any additional parts to convert from stock air shocks to coilovers?

From looking at the coilovers it seems to have everything I need but I'm not sure please advise.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ok thought I would post an update with regards to using the Tein CS Coilovers. No issues installing them except (After pulling the compressor fuse) now I have the AFS light flashing on the dash. I know this is for the lights turning when you make a turn. No other issue with the headlights they still aim properly

Does anyone know how to solve this issue. Is there a fuse to pull or something else I can do. For now I put a black sticker over the flashing light on my dash. Any help would be most appreciated.

I will post up pics later but I am running a 1 finger gap all the way around and the ride is as good or better than stock.

Much thanks to Steve Ganz and the gang at Carson Toyota great people to do business with and they know our Lexus inside and out!!

Cost: $2480 CDN - (Coilovers + Labour and alignment at Lexus dealer)
Sold 2 good air shocks for $600 + $500 for used ASC680

Total Cost: $1380 CDN so not too bad I guess
