Default Lexus - Rated #1 car for 2009

Consumers report just issued its top 10 list and the Lexus LS460 is the number 1 car for 2009. It missed a perfect score of 100 by 1 point.

Yeah, baby!

.....this is another reason American car companies were failing even before the fall of the U.S economy. I don't just have a Lexus because of the name. I have it because compared to luxury brands of the same level it's more reliable. What the American car companies need to do and the government should get them to do it with the bailout money is, study what the asian companies such as Toyota,Honda,Nissan do they haven't to attract buyers and make more reliable cars.

If the Asian made cars aren't as reliable figure out what made American cars seem like a worse reliable car then. The asian car companies are just so much more hungry and seem to care more than the U.S car companies! They won't admit it but, the economy just made there sales worse. They were already in trouble, the failed economy just buried them. Had they paid attention to the consumer they would out sell the asian competition!

Another Lexus win 99 out of 100,go figure. American car companies need more than our tax dollars to solve there issues. They'll be back in this same place if they don't make more reliable and more appealing auto's!L.G.N.M

'YOU' should not have to pay for it. One thing usermel didn't say is that the Asian companies also build their more reliable cars for less. Average cost to build a domestic car is ~$75/hour. Cost to build a Toyota in the US is ~$45/hour. Every domestic plant is unionized. Only ~20% of Asian plants in US are unionized.

but this is why we send out a lot of our stuff to be developed/produced in other countries too, so we can do it for cheaper and not have to deal with all the tax b.s. and regulations n such. our system is so completely screwed up that solutions to problems at this point only create bigger problems in the not so distant future.

What a lot of you have not mentioned is the DEALERS> I went to the local dealer here for new pick up truck. They actually gave me a good price $23,500, Told them I needed two hours and would make the decision. Upon returning to the dealer, they jumped the price $2000, because the did a search of the records and learned I had a GM credit card with over $2k in credit off the dealers price.

I went to a Toyota dealer and paid $23.5 for a new Tundra with same list price. When I got the Lexus I traded the Tundra in and got all but $500 back from original price. LOL..

Went to a dealer the other day looking for a car for my 16 year old. New '09 g6 listed at $12.7 but small print made it impossible to get that price. Col grad, Lease return, GM loyalty rebate. no extra rebates from my credit card...,

The car industry has the dealers to blame as much as the factories and unions, if not more.

all of my dealership purchases have always started at the real dealership i.e. toyota, lexus, even infiniti, and benz but I ended up buying the same car i was interested in at the original dealerships all from independent car dealerships. price was the factor in all of these purchases...

so yeah i can see how dealerships screw a lot of stuff up too.

It won't take long, value of used LS460/600 is dropping like a rock in this economy, 08' 600 is down to $70k now, 07' 460 is in the high $40k.

Many of us here probably have not driven a domestic in a very long time, and that is the problem of the domestic makes. They lost many customers to the foreign makes and so they have lost out on a lot of customers that won't go back because the foreign makes are not faltering to give the domestics a second chance to gain those customers back.

Also, for a make like Cadillac, GM is in the position of having to try to get back customers from Lexus, which is and probably always will be very high in quality. On top of that, Cadillac doesn't have the brand name appeal of say a Mercedes or BMW which can rest purely on their laurels and "snob" appeal.

Really, deep in my heart, I don't want GM or Ford to fail, but if they can't survive by their own merits... then they deserve to just be a fond memory...

I dont want to get in to a debate guys! I will say this though. Ford and GM already had issues of sales before the recent decline in the economy. The economy has just made it worse! That said, I don't wish bad on anyone. I just pray America comes out OK after this economic war! Feel for those who are suffering right now and understand I could be one of those who lost a home, car, job etc.. To those on this site effected drastically by the economy I hope nothing but the best for you! Please no debates my statements are general and opinions only not trying to be Mr.Right people!
