find a b & b or a friend or estranged relative or some sort of a weekly rental first. i am not sure about your wife but i know 'some of them' swear they want to go out into the woods until they get there are realize how being in the wilderness really is. seriously this messes with a lot of folks who think its a relaxing care free time until they get out there and realize they have to work...

a boat is also a lot of work, especially a sail boat. its not all peaches n cream and perfect experiences. there is a lot of labor involved in maintenance and operation.

well most people can't take care of their own boat, so they have to hire people to do it, that's why it get so expensive. Forget about maintance and repair, even getting it clean regularly cost a grip!

wow, i'm way to cheap to pay someone else to do some of those things... but i guess if i had the money it wouldn't really be an issue. man, maybe i'll start cleaning boats on the weekends when the weather gets nicer. didn't realize it cost so much, thanks for the tip.

Yeah I don't understand the point of having a vacation home, unless someone got so much money that can buy a place in every location they like. Why not just rent?

Same with exotic cars, some people own a Ferrari and only drive it once a month. Why not just rent whatever you feel like driving once a month? I am sure it is cheaper then owning and maintaining one.

well for the bigger boats that don't come out of the water, you have to hire a diver to get down there to scrub the bottom of the boat, at least once a month I think.

A normal decent car detail is already $100~$200, imagine the guy have to dive and scrub a much bigger vehicle, so the cheapest is a few hundreds a pop, then a few hundreds for parking.......keep on adding......just to maintain it is thousands of dollars a month. That doesn't include buying the boat or repair, gas, insurance.......etc.

There is an old saying........ "The happiest days of a boat owner's life are when he buys a boat or sells it."

I know a ex-boat owner says the saying rang true for him, all i could do is lol b/c owning one was hell for the guy.

damn, thats a lot of money... i think i'll just stick with my kayak for another summer. i was thinking about trying to find a used hobie cat type thing this summer something like this 13 ft one here: you can usually find a used one for between 1000- $1500 low maintenance, no registration or boat slips to pay, no licenses or fuel either.

New Update. Guess no new wheels for me as they found 4 center caps for the wheels, but at a cost of over $1500 , guess they were willing to pay for that instead of all new rims

Total repair with labor is over $3100.

i just noticed that you had lowenharts in a different thread (lowering ul without controller). and well about 6 months ago i was looking for 4 new center caps for my previous lowenharts, as they got all faded looking and some plastic stuff started to peel off of them after 4 years of service. i called dazzmotorsports (i think, i could confirm for sure if anyone is interested) and they found a set of 3 for like 125 or 175$ i forget. but they didn't even have a set of 4 and dazz is supposedly the u.s.'s official lowenhart dealer or some shiz according to a bunch of wheel shops i contacted.

thats sucks that you won't be able to go new rim shopping, you should find a way to tell them that you noticed all these scratches that weren't there before the thieves attempted to steel them. this has been known to work on insurance companies in the past.

Man bitter sweet moment, i was already to help spend your $$$$ on some new shoes. Oh well everything happens for a reason, happy it all worked out. Now no more parking outside over night young man, you will have to put your toys away at night.

That's where I got the wheels from Dazz and a spare one too, but I think they are out of business as that's the first place I called looking for my caps.

so i wonder where the hell your ins. company was able to find a set from. btw incase you didn't know i had tracked down a set of 4 a while back but they were a slightly different size than the ones i needed for my ld1's, therefore i guess lowenhart didn't make all their center caps the same size, so you should probably check on this if you haven't already.

i also tracked down a set of the new ones with the lions on them and they wouldn't fit the ld1's but i'm not sure about yours.
