Default Moving from Gs400 to LS430

hey guys. im a little hesitant to give up my 98 gs400 to my sis but im getting a hand-me-down from my bro. its a 2001 LS430. mileage is high(160K) but the body is good. theres a couple of problems i'd like to take care of ASAP.

1. the headlights seem to have major scratch marks on the top half of the headlights. i believe its on the outside part. is that normal? hid too bright?
2. the steering wheel does not move. it doesnt move when car turns off or on.
3. the radio display doesnt show any numbers. it lights up but no cd number, radio station appears.

im hoping the last 2 problems are fuses or quick fixes. PLZ let me know if you have had these problems.

The 2001 was not HID, just regular halogen. The scratches probably from just hazing effect from dirt and stuff on it.

Steering was also regular rack & pinion, so not electric. If it doesn't turn, then there's some mechanical problem or perhaps power steering fluid low/dry.

Radio could be fuse, look through manual.

Have not had these problems but here's a remedy

1.2000 sandpaper & rubbing compound wetsand then compound,HID'S being too bright that's a personal preference me i like them bright!!! 5k or 6k max.
2. Check the fuse if that's it replace it if not go to the local dealer or a local shop specializing in auto electricity have them check out your ride.
3. Beatsonic radio kit & new double din radio with navi.

Done & done

i should have been more specific. the steering wheel tilt doesnt move up or down or in and out. (for short armed drivers, long armed drivers).

and im sure the 2001 is hid. cus i had em replaced. believe its 6000k hid.

If your car has HID'S from factory it's definetly not a 6k it's most likely a 4300k.

1. HID dates back to 98 with it being projector, just like the GS. Too bright meaning it's pointing up higher?

2. Another factor could be the dealer setting it to not move at all.
3. A very common problem for the GS radio LCD display to die out.
Check it out in the 2GS section.
Mine gave out, replaced under warranty, and gave out the 2nd time at around 140k right before I sold my GS.

I never hat to look for that particular fuse but i'm guessing either the driverside kickpanel or under the hood?

I don't think it's a fuse. Probably a wire toyota electric motors are diehards so I would look for a broken wire.

My 2002 is HID
