The Trunk struts on my ls430 need to be replaced. I purchased a new pair from the Dealer. What is the instalation procedure? They appear much longer than my old ones and I am unable to compress them down to fit by hand... Help... Bob

 

You have to remove the back seat and the rear deck to get to the bolts on top of the strut...the bottom bolts are easy.

 

You don't have to remove the back seat - they pop in. I just had mine replaced. Why don't you have the dealer do it - they shouldn't charge you much of anything if you bought them there.

 

I think you are thinking of struts (suspension) instead of trunk lid

 

Yeah thats what i was thinking about..

 

This turned out to be a very simple job. Simply remove the security clips on each end, open trunk to maximum, prop up with broom handle and remove old and replace new struts.... Bob
