the sylvania's will just turn out to be that ugly brown color, just because of the power comsumption. i've tried led's and them didn't seem to work. finally i just gave up and purchased yellow bulbs.

I bought some Blue 9005 bulbs on ebay and they look pretty good to me

I would like to turn off the DRL's all together. Can this be done? If so, how?

I know on the GS it has to do with a relay so most likely it's the same way to disable the DRL.

you can get the white led bulbs on ebay for about 40 bucks. My boi replaced his with hid's and it looks clean but it was blinding people so he removed them and installed the White led bulbs

I've heard that there's a flickering problem with the led's, do you know if the led's that your friend has flicker or not?
