dyno'ed my LS430
hey guys.....today we had a supra dyno meet in long island and I strap the LS....made decent power....241RWHP and 246RWTQ, car rev all the way to 6500rpm before the rev limiter kicked in!! AFS light was blinking the entire time i was on the dyno, i guess it was wondering how come the front wheels arent spining and the speed sensor was sensing speed!!
Awesome! I'm not certain about this but it seems to me that that is a very high percentage of power reaching the wheels....translation, the tranny is extremely efficient. I wonder if the pre-04 trannys are the same way.
im pretty sure the pre-04 transmissions are very efficient as well!!
I have had both 01 LS430 UL and now 04 UL, 04 feels faster and smoother, I think the tranny makes the difference.
wow, that is pretty good power!
I am not surprise though, the car feels fast. |
Do you have the dyno graph. I kinda always wondered how you would dyno an auto. Can you lock the LS onto 3rd gear?
17% drivetrain loss isn't that great. I've seen 15% thrown around as average for many years on most boards.
i thought 20% was the average among rear drives, i do have the dyno graph but no scanner....lets see i will find a way to post it up!!
by the way...the dyno was done in the 4th gear....always dynoed supras in 4th!! you have to ease in to the redline or else it will upshift.
hehe I think you want to change your signature for you LS430 dyno results.. you have 426 lb/ft of torque on your 430 damnn! :eek2: ;)
Did you manually shift it to 4th gear or keep it in drive.
I assume you had it in power mode. Did you hit the rev limiter in every gear? I guess that answers my previous post about redlining the engine since you clearly chose to go to the rev limiter.. WOW... Is your LS completely stock? Your AFS light was blinking because the car was so far from being level it could not correct the lighting enough to balance it.. ( my guess anyways) Nice POST.. good info.. |

I manually shifted in to 4th, ran it till the rev limiter kicked in...around 6500rpm!! AFS light was blinking cause it didnt sense the front wheels spining and the speed sensor was picking up speed!! |
Interesting.
Based upon the rated HP, that's a pretty good number for an auto tranny(assuming this was a Dynojet). The rule-of-thumb 15% drivetrain loss on Dynojets are almost always referring to manual transmission cars which don't lose as much as an automatic with its torque converter. That number tends to support Toyota's 290 HP claim much moreso than it does the revised 278 HP (or whatever it was) that they posted for the latest LS430 due to the change in how the HP measurement was taken. |
yes, it was a dynojet...
