im using an after market amp! I rewired my entire cars speaker wire. It was actually not that bad! I have alpine type r components and alpine amps. I only needed the headunit wires for the tweeters and i couldnt tell you what wires is what i didnt write it down, i used a volt light to find all the correct wires. Its only 4 wires that im using though. My factory NAV is sharing the same wiring thats why im trying to figure out what i can do to get them both to work at the same time because the AC is tied into the tape player and thats the wires i used to power my alpine deck. If anyone has any suggestions......SHOOT😎

1. Even though you're not using it, is the factory amp still plugged in at the trunk?

2. Since you only need three wires from the factory wiring to power your Alpine headunit, have you thought about running completely standalone wires and leaving the wiring harnesses going into the radio 100% untouched? Ground you can get anywhere, 12+ and ACC can be found in either one of the fuseboxes.

I would try running the Alpine headunit off a seperate circuit, not tapped from the radio, and see if that made any difference. Also look into the remote turn-on wire. It might be causing the ML amp to shut down which signals the NAV unit to shut down as well? Just a guess.

How much trimming / modification did you have to do to make that head unit fit into that slot? Volume button clears the flap door fine?

Sorry to take so long responding......its been a while since ive been on😁! It depends on how you want your setup and the bracket your radio comes with. I didnt want the door so i removed mine and have it sitting like it came factory but wihout a flap. If you want it to fit yes just mount your radio farther back and it will fit, i had the room i just didnt do it. Also i had to trim the panel around the oem radio as well about 1/4 inch each side with a dremel and i plan on putting a nice beauty surround panel to hide the slots that where left from door covering the radio.
