Default LS430 HID bulb replacement -- Help

One of the HID bulbs in our 02 LS430 is out (low beam). Where can I buy a replacement bulb? Should I get the original intensity or a higher intensity to match the remaining bulb?

Thanks in advance for your help!

wouldn't a higher intensity not match the remaining bulb? I believe that's a D2R bulb, which is available on ebay. look for 4300k D2R OE style.

Thanks for the info!
I thought HID bulbs change color as they age. Their color becomes more 'blue' as they get older. Is that not right? That's why I thought I might want to get a higher-intensity bulb. Correct me if I am wrong.

Welcome to the world of HID!

Bulbs will color shift when they accrue enough hours on them.

As for the color shift, they shift from a slight yellow, to a whiter hue, not blue.

As for higher intensity, the highest is 4300k with 3200lm of lighting power.

Also when replacing bulbs, its best to replace them in pairs, as to match the color in regards to output.

Look for Philips 85126+ bulbs on ebay, and you'll find most new sets sell for $107 shipped. Don't pay more than that for them.

Thank you!!
I found a pair on ebay for $88.49. Does this seem too good to be true or is this reasonable?

One more question:
What's the difference between "4300k D2R OE style" and "Philips 85126+"??
Which one should I get?
Thanks.

no difference. same thing, just different part numbers. philips has their own part number for a d2r style bulb.

There are two different part numbers for this bulb, but no difference in output.

There is a 85126 and an 85126+

They are the same exact bulb, just the + bulb will color shift quicker for you, so you have whiter light sooner.

It's just buyer preference with this purchase, yellow longer, or white sooner.

GL with the purchase!

I remember paying $150 for a Philips HID bulb 3 years ago for my 98 LS400. Does 2 for $88 sound too good to be ture?? How would I know if it's genuine Philips?

Should come with serial number, and original box.

All HID bulbs and ballasts have come down in price due to the sudden craze.

So yeah, $88 for two Philips 85126 bulbs is fair market price. $10 more for the + bulb.

Default 2001 LS430 HID Main Bulb Replacement

2001 LS430 HID bulb replacement. Started car (180K miles now) for work today and had soft yellow glow on passenger side headlight. Got a lot of good info on this site on how to access the HID bulb and was able to remove it without trouble in just a couple of minutes. Thanks to those who have gone before me.
As stated in other posts, you do not need to remove headlight assy or bumper shell to replace main beam HID lamp. I ordered a pair (MAXLUX HID Xenon Bulbs D2R 4300K) from amazon for $36.99 plus $11.30 for 2-day shipping.
will post pics and lessons learned when job is complete. I did find out not to turn on lights with bulb socket disconnected; when I did it arced somewhere and this was the good headlamp (I was swapping bulbs to make sure it wasn't the ballast before I ordered the bulbs). Fortunately that headlamp still seems to work, so looks like I dodged the bullet, so far. Waiting for bulbs to arrive.

August 2014 and headlights working good.

Does the 04-06 model also use the Phillips 85126 bulbs?
Edit: Amazon is saying the Phillips 85122 is the correct bulb. Is this correct?

The number is just the model name for it from Phillips. Just make sure it's a "D2S" style bulb. As long as you get a D2S bulb, from whatever manufacture, it will fit in your '04-'06 LS430.

Can I put a pair of 6000k hid bulbs on my 2003 Lexus LS430?
If so, any recommendations?

Im using some chicom bulbs from Dmex since I wanted 6k to match my other cars and all front lights to be the same. They are not badly constructed but don't have too much salt in them, nothing like the usual bargain basement junk but not as good as a real Phillips bulb in terms of glass shape and base welds. It was nice enough I am using them but they will be replaced every 2 years since I'm not confident in the salts lasting long and I would rather not blow a ballast again. (Last owner loaded absolute trash 8500k bulbs that killed my drivers side unit, that was annoying to get a new actual Lexus one). Get the version that matches if you have projectors or not, again my cars former owner put in D2S when it needed D2R
