Default Serpentine Belt Tensioner Pulley

Greetings,
Does anyone have notes on how to remove the serpentine belt tensioner pulley on the LS430? Is there a bolt that needs to be loosened in order to relieve tension? I am hearing some bearing wear coming from that location and want to replace. Instructions & pics would be great.

Thanks.

Its much easier than all that. Just put a box end wrench on the pulley bolt and pull tward you to release tension. It pivots on the spring. Post a picture and ill draw you a diagram.

Its kind of hard to explain because its so simple. Put the box end on the bolt shown circled and rotate the wrench in the direction the arrow shows. That will take tension off the belt for you to slide it off or whatever you need to do. Theres a few markings on the tensioner housing that show the amount of belt stretch so you can approximate the lifespan of the belt.

To remove the belt itself, the arrow in the above diagram should point the other direction. To remove the tensioner as per the original question, the diagram is correct.

I just replaced my drive belt today because my belt was squeaking when the AC was turned on (which is almost all the time - I use Auto mode). Took under 20 minutes - would have been faster if I wasn't holding a flashlight with one hand. The belt loop diagram is also on the underside of the hood - just look up when it's open.

See attached TSB EG003-04 from March 26, 2004. The original belt 90916-02463 was superceded by 90916-02586.

All Lexus/Toyota dealers anywhere near Ottawa wanted $85.40CAD pre-tax/$96.50 after-tax for just the belt. Parts.com had the belt for $35.89USD but they don't ship to Canada. I ended up buying from Conicelli Parts Center for $38.41USD, $19.25 shipping, $58USD to my door, no customs/duties paid upon arrival.

I think that tightening of the belt after installation may be a good thing to add to this thread. I'm getting ready to perform this maintenance since the dealership wanted $150 to do it. I'm not sure at this point if loctite is needed so I'm still researching.. and I'm also looking for the lb's of pressure for the bolt.

I just replaced this pulley not long ago and don't recall seeing any loctite on the bolt. It wasn't on very tight.

I just replaced the belt. I went to my local Autozone.. where I never shop.. and bought a Dayco poly rib belt for $23!! I had the clerk look up the Lexus Dayco belt and it was $33.. then we searched again using my engine type and found the $23 belt.. we tried to find a difference and all we could find was the Lexus belt was 2/10th's of an inch longer.. which means nothing at all... and it was the very same belt. I'm guessing they were nabbing lexus owners with that belt for 10 bucks extra for the very same belt. I was told the Gatorback belt was not the best belt, which may be true considering all the salesman wondering about here. The belt seems quite nice to me and is very quiet.
