To tint or not to tint..that is the question.

Silver 2004 LS. No tint. Should I tint the windows? I live in Ohio.

If so, how dark? Legal limit is like 50% or something here.

Silver on black??..I would go the Lightest tint...all around!

50% in the front and 25-30% rear

I found that 50% was too dark at night. I would stay lighter and the same all the way around.

I just tinted my GS with the same color combo, I did 30% on the sides, and 15% in the rear window. Looks 10x better, and feels cooler inside... A/C cools much quicker. I can see out just fine at night (which is a big thing for me)

NOTE: It will appear much darker then it really is due to the black interior... just to keep that in mind.

Absolutely tint it. Regardless of the level of darkness you choose, you will benefit from a much cooler and protected interior. The greatest benefit will be the fact that your leather and panels will be spared from excessive cracking and wear. There are those who tint the front window with a clear ceramic film to reduce the heat as well. If you can afford it, definitely use a ceramic based film. It's lighter in color and excels in performance, the fact that it is lighter will help you comply with you local tint laws which is very light.

Its too damn hot here in houston so I am planning on tinting mine.

had mine tinted when in Florida as it is certainly needed for that intense sun,, now we live in Missouri and works fine here,, not really dark but sure can tell the difference,,

would recommend,,

I'm going to tint the car! I'm going to do 35% in the back (rear two windows + back glass) and 50% up front (legal limit up front in Ohio).

If it would ever warm up here (18 degrees this morning) I'd wash my car and get some before and after pics...

Don't forget to tint your Windshield. Yes, the Windshield. You will NOT regret it. Throw the 50% on that.

I have tinted windshields on ALL of my cars and LOVE it.

Also, I'd go for the same tinting all around. Here's what it looks like.

I don't think that's legal here in Ohio. Hey Moogy, what tint levels do you have all around your car? Looks great!

Moogy 03-06-07 09:08 AM

Windshield is 30 and sides are 15.

Limo is 3-5.

Check your local tint laws first so you know.

If you are concerned about the light transmittance, there are films that do absorb/reject UV and some of the associated heat without being dark. Though tinted films tend to have nicer properties due to the shading.

Arizona Window Tint Law
Arizona Tint Law Enacted: 1994
HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN ARIZONA?

Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Arizona, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.

Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer's AS-1 line.
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 33% of light in.
Back Side Windows Any darkness can be used.
Rear Window Any darkness can be used.

Ok gentleman - I called the guy who did the tint for my 98 GS300 - He suggested I go with the "executive tint" Johnson's silver slightly reflective.

That'd have to look tight with the silver LS.

Thoughts? Anyone got any pictures of cars with silverish tint?
