RearView camera doesn't come on from time to time?
 

Anyone experience the same issue where when you shift to reverse and rear view camera display doesn't come up? It happen couple of times and I can not duplicate the issue. Its still a mystery for now of the combination to trigger this problem for dealer to properly address it. Any help will ge appreciated, thanks.

I just had to have my camera replaced on my '04 LS430. One day it worked backing out of the driveway and 30 minutes later it wouldn't. Mine wasn't an intermittent problem (although there were a couple of times when it almost worked again). The dealership told me that the problem was an "open circuit". The part number on the invoice is 86790-50010 Camera Assy, Televis

I had an intermittent problem with the camera on my '04 as well and then one day it stopped working all together. they replaced it under warranty.

My suggestion is to tell your dealer about the problem and ask them to replace it under warranty. They know there are issues with the camera and have been replacing a number of them after a couple of years. My guess is that they will not gibe you a hard time about it.

and m500 I forgot to say that my camera replacement was under warranty. They were happy to replace it - of course Johnson Lexus (Raleigh, NC) has been a great dealership to us so far.

My lease is up this December and I may go with a BMW 550i instead of the LS 460. I'm pricing this and the Mercedes to see which way I go.

How have you liked your '04?

I've enjoyed mine so far. I've had a few minor little things but it's a car - it's going to have some of those things. I love the color but I don't know that I'd choose it again - it seems to show scratches and rock dings bad (at least to my critical eye).

Good luck with your next car in December. We looked at the BMW 5series (and I was all set to buy a beemer) back in 2004 - we've got an '87 325ic with about 90K. But it's going to take a lot for me to go back to BMW now. I think (at least for the time being) I'm hooked on Lexus.
