2003 745 or 04 Lexusls43o
i have so many friends who have had the BMW...they r loyal customers buying one after the other...yet taking the car to fix is their favourate pastime

However, you can't beat Lexus. That's why we have a LS430. Who cares if the S65 has twin turbos. They are useless on a lift. Who cares if the 760Li is exclusive, it sure damn will be in the mechanics garage.
745i----> Arguably good performance against the LS 403. However, its not reliable especially in long term usage. BMW parts (i.e. oil filter, etc.) tend to be more expensive than Toyota parts. Most bimmers require premium gas, which can get very expensive here in LA.
When I went out to buy a nice new luxury vehicle, the BMW 3-series and Lexus were on top of my list. Thank the good Lord I came to my senses and brought the Lexus!
Also, you may want to consider other factors when buying a vehicle such as comfort, price, reliability issues, maintenance costs, performance, social status, and your personal tastes. The LS 430 is not the only luxury sedan Lexus offers. Other vehicles include the GS, SC, ES, and IS which serves a diverse group of people with diverse interests. It wouldn't hurt to give the other models a try.
But its up to you. Its your money. It's your call.

That's one major reason why I didn't buy the BMW!
Both cars will be reliable. The Lexus will be the most reliable. If that is all that matters to you, get the LS.
If you want to have fun, the BMW would be your choice of course.

Celebrating Lexus & Toyota from Around the Globe
I love BMW's but would pick the LS. I am not a large sedan fan. But if I did have one, it would be for quiet and comfort, not performance.
If the choice was between a 5 series and an LS, well that would be a different story.

I especially did not like BMWs 'iDrive'.
In general I dislike what BMW (and Mercedes-Benz) has done with the interior controls. Things like unlocking the passenger door from the driver's seat is not inherently obvious in these German cars, but it is what you'd expect on the Lexus.
I like the quality of the Lexus leather and wood interior as well (better than the BMW).
Externally, I think the BMW is slightly better looking.
The 04 LS has the 6 speed transmission, so performance-wise it seems pretty close to the BMW.
