Default High Mileage LS430s?

Just curious if any of you have a 2001 or 2002 LS430 with high mileage yet? Wondering what types of problems develop at 70,000mi, 100,000mi or beyond?

Mine is a '99 with 95K miles. Purrs like a kitten. No problem whatsoever. Of course, I take good care of mine with all service history up to date. Always the key is good maintainance, isn't it ?

Thanks for that reply but I am looking for issues with the LS430....not the LS400. There are plenty of posts about high mileage LS400's here. But, again, thanks.

I'm very interested in this question as well. Has Lexus improved reliability (long term) on the LS430s vs the LS400s? Or has it sacrificed some long term reliability for more gimmicks and electronic doodads ( a milder form of the Mercedes disease)?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Smile high miles

Daryl40 I hope this helps a bit, im at 55,100 miles and have had just recently squeaky noises that come from my belt, caused by aging and belt dryness. This squeaking comes and goes depending on weather. I asked the service department to check it out and they said it was o.k. Normal wearing of the belt but its still good and if i want to change it because of belt noise i can but dont rush. They said if it is a problem that needs to be replaced the techs will let me know. Also my folding rear view mirrors got stuck and i used wd-40 to losen the mechanism. Other than that pretty much so far that high Lexus quality were used to. Most of the problems i had were resolved during the warranty period. The same should hold true for you. My gas mileage is still great also between 19-28 a gallon, I use my cruise control alot on the interstate . Love GOD not money, and GODBLESS

Default Here you go...

I've had my LS430 for only 3 months and plan to keep everyone updated on any issues or problems that I encounter with the car. It now has 63k miles on it. The car is very firm and quiet. The problems I've noticed are as follows:
  1. Folding side mirrors get stuck - WD40 fixed this
  2. Tire wear on outside edge on front (problem not determined yet)
  3. rear subwoofer rattles back dash (loose parts back there)
  4. trunk is difficult to open and close (struts appear to be worn)

Not a long list, and I am pretty close to this car. After all these miles, the car seems to be real solid. I did an oil change a few weeks ago and got a close-up look at the engine and underside. Looks clean and leak-free.

I wouldn't consider this a problem, but timing belt has to be replaced at 90-100k (dont know at which) but that is usually a considerable expense as you replace additional parts for preventative maintainaince.

I just purchased an 02 with 59k. I drove it down from Wichita to San Antonio and have experienced no issues except a seriously squeaky belt.

Congrats on the purchase, submit a new thread and tell is all about the car, incl the details on the deal you got....

Tell us more about the belt squeak. Is it the serpentine belt? Do you think a simple adjustment on the tension will alleviate the problem?

BTW, I'm from Corpus... I was down there over the Christmas holidays and experience the 1st snowfall in south Texas. People around there went wild! Building snowman, doing donuts, etc. Good time...

Oh man you are NOT kidding! Snow in Corpus, when I heard that I just about flipped. I had gotten used to it when I lived in Kansas for a while, but ive been mostly a South Texas person my whole life (though I missed a couple years ago when there was snow here), hearing about snow on the coast was crazy.

I started another thread on the car last night. Its in the first couple on the main LS430 page.

Thanks!

mine is UL so I would consider more problem should appear(more equipment), but after 47000 miles, it still goes like a deam!!!
I know a mechanic so I don't really worry about normal problems, but the only thing I am afraid of is the air suspension! My friend's S430's front two air suspension broke on 33000 miles! and it cost a fortune! ( I think she replace both under warranty but the invoice was over 3000!)

This is EXACTLY what I mentioned in the other suspension thread. For this reason and this reason alone I try to stay away from air suspension cars, as much as I like the ride and comfyness of the air ride, the trouble later on down the road is not worth it. I AM NOT SAYING THE AIR RIDE IS BAD MIND YOU. It is an AWESOME option, and if you have the money to buy an Ultra Luxury LS430, or ANY LS430, you need to be prepared for these maintenance issues after your warranty is up. I just choose not to deal with the hassle vs. real performance of the feature.

By the way, in the world of Toyotas 47000 miles on an 2001 is young my friend. In fact, 47k is considered proper and correct mileage for a 2001 vehicle, not high.
