Low pressure warning light won't go off
 

I reinflated my tires to the correct pressure but the light is still on after 20 miles. Normal or signs of a deeper problem?

You need to perform a procedure that is described in the Owners Manual. There is a button under the dash which needs to be pressed while you do a couple of other things in sequence.

FYI, I believe there is an update to the program, which became available in October 2004. I don't know what it corrects but it has to be better. In the Owner's Manual, it states the warning may come on in the rain, snow, when it's too hot, too cold, etc. They could have saved time and said it can come on anytime.

Here in Chicago, it came on a few times during the winter, but in my opinion it is a crummy system for a luxury car. As you know, it doesn't tell you which tire it senses is low and it doesn't know how much air is in the tires. I was told this system works by measuring the difference in tire revolutions and when it detects a variance over a period of time it displays the warning.

In my case it came on while the car was slipping in the snow and trying to look around to figure out which one may be low is not an advantage to me. I check my tires regularly and I told my dealer I'd rather have it disconnected, but they said they could not.

I read the manual at the time and it said you need to drive "above 19mph for a while" before the light goes off, it didn't talk about a procedure beyond that.

I can't find anything in the manual that describes this procedure. Just "drive over 19mph".

I have a 2004 - which page should I be looking at?

I believe it's on page 362. It hard to find because you have to look at the under the dash control secion in the front of the manual to find the button, where there is a page referrence.

Thanks. I actually worked it out for myself. Press and hold the button until it clears, then press and hold to re-initialize the pressure monitoring system.

They need to update that section in the manual for sure.
