Which Sprint Cell Phone with Bluetooth
Just bought the LS430. I use sprint cell service. I have a treo 600 as my phone (and mp3 player and camera and calendar and contacts and and and.
alsomost a much stuff as the 430) but the treo 600 does NOT have bluetooth. I know I can buy an attachment that would let me use a bluetooth headset. In the tech section of this site, they told me that the attachment will not let me use the 430 built in bluetooth.
I don't want to give up my Treo. But I may have to buy a 2nd phone for the car. Which is the cheapest bluetooth phone that works with the car's system? I would like to stay with sprint to do this. But I may consider switching if one phone/service is much much cheaper than another for the car.
Thanks

By the way, you should check out lexus.letstalk.com as it lists those phones which the website claims are lexus 430 compatible. I found the link on Lexus' link but am still not sure they are guaranteed to work.
I have been using the Sony Ericsson T608 for SprintPCS. It has worked fairly well for the past 4 months I have had it. Since its development was stopped by SE, it has some "issues" occasionally. Since there are no other Sprint Bluetooth phones to choose from it has to do. Go to T608.com for a review and other information about this phone.
does any 608 work? i.e., i may go to ebay and see if they have one used for sale? i would probaby lv the phone in the car all the time.
if you were not wedded to sprint, would u get a different phone?

I have tried other providers but I always come back to Sprint. If I were to change I would go to Verizon; their service is pretty decent. Their phones are CDMA (like Sprint) and T608 is the only CDMA phone available ... until this August. I understand that Verizon is introducing a new Bluetooth phone. It may be worth switching.
thx for ur comments...my concern about sprint is that the s-e phone is not even sold by sprint any more....i can get it at the talk.com site, but not from sprint....i may look at t-mobile to see if i can get a better price from them than from the talk.com site.
i know as soon as i buy a phone, palmone will have a mod kit for the treo 600 making it into a real bluetooth.
thx for your assistance.

You don't have to give up your Treo just because it doesn't have Bluetooth. There are inexpensive car kits for the Treo 600 from PalmOne including a hardwired one. A traditional car kit has advantages such as keeping your phone charged and having no limitations on dialing (or having the front seat passenger dial) while the car is moving.
Car kits are not all that difficult to install in an LS. I transferred my Nokia kit from my previous LS to my current LS myself. I attached the Nokia kits's mute wire to automatically mute the radio when the phone rings or I make a call. And I probably have about the same features as with Bluetooth including speed and voice dialing, auto answer, and auto hang-up.
The hardwire version of the Treo 600 car kit, like most car kits, has a mute wire which can be attached to the LS430's audio system. Leather phone consoles for the LS430 are available from Kuda USA: http://www.kuda-phonebase.com/home.htm
Or brackets are available from several companies including Pro-fit: http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/
