Default (HELP) Noise from lower timing belt area.

There is noise coming from the lower timing belt area. Where the crankshaft sprocket is. I changed the timing belt thinking it could’ve been the tensioner. Replaced water pump and all idlers and tensioner with aisin kit. There’s still noise. Specifically at 800-900rpm. Goes away at a lower rpm particularly when in drive. I believe toyota listened to the idler pulleys and compression test of engine. They must’ve just done a quick look around and not investigated more. I didn’t know where the noise was coming from at the time I dropped it off to them for a diagnosis.

Numerous people have suggested this, and I'll pile on too.

A 14" length or so of garden hose type of material would work wonders and act as a stethoscope. There is an automotive stethoscope made by Lisle too. You could even use a length of straight wood, like quarter round or half round type of lumber used for finishing baseboards, etc.

Simply, but very CAREFULLY place one end on the component you want to 'investigate', like the power steering pump, alternator, tensioner, etc, and the other end to your ear. You should be able to identify the sound when you're touching the 'bad' component...whether it's a bearing or the actual device itself. BE CAREFUL OF THE SERPENTINE BELT IN MOTION!

Here's an example of the specific device.... https://www.lislecorp.com/specialty-...-s-stethoscope

@LS430inDE.

I have one. I also disconnected the serpentine belt to remove accessory components out of the equation. Noise still appeared.

A wooden dowel, long screw driver works too. Same cautions apply as with a length of hose.

I have that exact same noise and concern — were you able to resolve it?
