Default Reverse lights not working 2001 LS430

My reverse lights will not come on. All the other lights work. I’ve replaced the bulbs and checked the fuses. I did a voltage test and it appears there is power to the bulbs. I’m not sure how it is possible to detect power and it is still not working. Any ideas?

I worry that the neutral safety switch is causing the problem. What happens when you move the shift lever back and force fully many times?

If there is power to the bulbs but they are not lit up, then the lights have an earthing problem. Check that there is continuity between the outer of the bulb connector and a known good earth point.

thank you for your response. Yes, I did that today and nothing has changed. From my limited experience, if this is the case, it sounds like I would need to bring it into a shop to get it fixed.

Also wanted to mention that the “Taillight failure” warning does display on the dash.
