it looks like the wood is moved back too far and won’t let it release.
any idea what to do?

Most likely, your cup holder is broken. The "flap" that is the bottom of the cup holder, isn't raising up when the cup holder is stored. The flap is probably hanging down and the rubber feet are catching on the console. Grab a flashlight and look between the cup holder and the console.

 

I bought my 430 in 2017 and at the time the cupholder wouldn’t open.
I assumed it was broken until I removed the wood panel around the shifter and found something stuck in the mechanism.
It’s been so long I don’t remember what it was but basically something you might find under a seat like a business card or drink lid…

 

No offense, but from the video, this was my first thought; judging from the pile of trash in the passenger foot well.

 

It is very easy for a kleenex etc to get pulled in and jam. Very easy fix.

 

Same. Mine was full of junk.
