Default Extended Warantee

I am planning on purchasing a 2004 LS in the next month. I was wondering if anyone has information on the price they paid for an exteded warantee. I am thinking about $0 deductable on the rest of the car for either 6yr/70,000 or 7yr/75,000. I know you get a 6 yr warantee on the drivetrain, but I think if the price is reasonable, it it worth paying for the additional coverage on the rest of the car, because I am sure 1one repair after the 4 yr bumper to bumper would exceed the extra cost.

Default Mike- I bought the warranty

Mike;
I have an 03 LS 430UL purchased in Oct 02. I paid $1800.00 for a 7 yr Platinum "0" deductible Lexus extended warranty. I bought the warranty at the time I purchased the car.

The Lexus already comes with a 4 year/50,000 "bumper to bumper" limited warranty. Also, it has a 6 year/70,000 powertrain warranty. If you are getting an extended warranty, step up and get the 7 year/100,000 "bumper to bumper" limited warranty. It'll be worth it because if you decide to sell the car, then you can transfer it to the new owner. And it should be available without a deductable also.

I would seriously consider warrantydirect. com. 7 years/100,000 miles with a $0 deductible will run you $1325 for their best package. I have my warranty through them and it has already paid for itself. I made the mistake in the past by purchasing the extended warranty through the dealer. Big mistake. Just my .02 cents.

What does a certified pre-owned come with? My 99 broke down in TN it has 75k on it and was certified pre-owned when I bought it in 2000 and I call Road Side Assistance and they said the Road Side Assistance was expired???? I was like WTF I thought all Lexus came with Road Side Assistance as part of owning a Lexus.

Just be sure to check them out throughly and read the fine print. They seem to be worthless for me lately.

You can not transfer a "certified" warrenty. It is null and void after the vehicle is sold.

It used to be 6 years from DOFU (date of first use) or 70,000 total miles, but now it's 3 years from your Certified PreOwned purchase date or 100,000 total miles. It changed a few years back, I can't remember exactly when. Either way, Auto Club Roadside is for the duration of the warranty. And did you buy your Lexus from a Lexus dealer AND did they give you the Certified booklet and "diploma" certificate that comes with it. Not all Lexus cars can be certified by the dealership. There are all types of rules we have to ensure. And it has to pass 128 different inspections also. To me, a warranty is a sound investment. driving a car without some kind of warranty (be it a factory, a Certified, a extended, GAP insurance) is like driving without insurance. You just never know. And the good thing about the extended warranty (not the Certified Warranty) is that it is transferable to the new owner of your car. So, if you choose to sell your car, you can sell the remaining warranty to the buyer and get some money back. And the Lexus warranty is good at any Lexus dealership in the country! No deductable, no pay the dealer first then get reimbursed, immediate rental cars, and travel/hotel protection.

Yes, I bought it from a Lexus dealership and got all the paperwork. Even went back and looked on the website and this is what it says "Each Certified Pre-Owned Lexus must pass a grueling 128-point inspection checklist, and is supported by a Lexus-backed 3-year/100,000-total-vehicle-mile limited warranty [2] that begins the day you drive it off the lot -- not on its original purchase date."

So being that I have only owned the car 2 1/2 years I should have been covered?!

Default Warrenty

I bought an extended warrenty in 1990 when I bought a new Lexus LS400. I think I paid something like $1300. What a waste of money! I had the car for 5 years and NEVER had a problem with it, and you shouldn't have any problems with a Lexus because they are so well built. I recently bought a '03 Lexus LS 430 and only smiled when asked if I wanted an extended warrenty. No Thanks. Hope this helps.

Regards, Phil

Well, if you bought it Feb 2000 (I see that's when you first registered - February), then the warranty would've expired Feb 2003. But if your "breakdown" occurred during the allotted time, then it should've been covered. When was it?

I bought it in feb 2001 and the breakdown last month. Maybe the lady on the phone was confused and thought I was the original owner and that is why she said it was expired? But she pulled up my information and verified it on the computer so it should have showed her when I purchased the vechicle? I wouldn't be that upset but the fact is that when the car broke down my wife and my 22 month old daughter were in it and about 400 miles away. And I had to convince my wife to purchase the car and one big point was the service and reliability of the vehicle and then we were treated like crap by service. They didn't even volunteer to call a tow truck we had to thumb through the yellow pages.
