Default "ect"

What the heck does the "ECT" mean on the "Power/Snow" switch of my new '03 LS430? I could understand "ETC" (as in ecetera) or "EXT" as in ("extra" power). But ECT??? HUH?

In my understanding and experience, ECT changes the transmission shifting to higher RPMs in each gear. This produces more aggressive acceleration and power. I leave my ECT on most of the time. Hope this is not harder on the engine or transmission.

My owers manual(96 LS400) states not to drive with it on all the time ,look at yours and see what it says........Bad for gas mileage and maybe the trans.
