Default Ls400 1990 speedometer sensor vss

hi,

vss sensor ls400 1990 needed
would someone help me find the speedometer sensor for my LS400 first generation 1989-1992, I believe the part number is 83181A. If you have it , would be interested in buying it.

If your problem is only caused by the worn plastic gear like this below, there is a way to fix it just replacing the gear which is 33482-59025.
These below are about a JDM Celsior but I believe that everything is applicable to a USDM.


The right side is a new gear. Compare these 2. You can see how the left one is worn. This disables to work both the speedometer and the trip counter and is the common problem among aged Toyota FR cars maufactured in late 80s and early 90s. You can find more about the story here but everything is written in Japanese.

The sensing unit is named 83181A as you wrote.

Unfortunately the spare part I need is the whole unit, hopefully you can tell me where to get one, thanks for your answer.

never mind,wrong part.Amayama doesnt have it,going to be a junkyard or a lucky hit on ebay.

Could 83181-12021 be used instead,they are quite similar? Its only 10- 20 bucks,and then get proper gear wheel,Im reading the gears are interchangeable? Worth a gamble?
