Default Hunt down check vsc

Is there a service manual that has what to check?

I believe the p0441 code has been resolved. 200 miles driven and no codes nor cel would come back within 20.
New battery and new OEM alternator installed.
No vacuum leaks
Replaced gas cap and radiator cap with OEM (needed to anyway)

I'm stumped here.

When was the last time you cleaned the throttle body?
When it is badly clogged, there sometimes turns on the Check VSC other than the low idle problem. It often causes slow engagement of the 2nd gear too.
Although there are these problems, the engine check light seldom turns on. I worry that you are in a situation like these. If so, one idea is to clean the throttle body thoroughly including air mix passages.

I've never cleaned it.....but thinking after 209k it prolly needs it. Scared to do it tho. Actually upon reading about this...it does happen when it idles under 500rpm and happens alot in summer.

Never done one. What do I clean it with

Would seafoam work? Not spray into vacuum hose rather use it as a solvent.

Yes, you need to do so and let the ECU to relearn. Depending on the driver's driving habit, it takes some time to complete the relearning. I know a guy who needed 3 days to complete.

The throttle body cleaning is effective for the low idle problem but P0441 is not directly related to it except the vacuum level to absorb the vapour from the canister.

I also replaced the valve on the charcoal canister.

I remember when ya did that but I thought you were also gonna change the canister. Did you?
I've never had to diagnose this code, mainly cuz I got a 94. Ha. But I did find this link which I read and learned more then what I knew.
Don't know if you've seen it but it answers your first question in your first post here; "what to check?"

I hope you removed it from the car and used carb cleaner to really get it clean again, it's also risky to leave it on the car since the cleaners will weaken the vacuum hoses.

You should use a dealer lever scan tool to have the car do the formal relearn process

This probably isn't the issue, but it might be worth knowing.

I accidentally drained my battery quite some time ago, completely dead. I left the trunk open overnight. So I jumped the car, then drove around for 30 minutes to re-charge it fully. But I had a VSC warning light during this period from the moment I restarted the car. It persisted for about... 2-3 days, then magically went away on it's own. Computer system might be wonky after having changed your battery (how long was the battery out\the car dead?). How long has the VSC light been on & how far have you driven it? Make sure the battery connection terminals have good connections & there isn't buildup. Is the new alternator giving the battery a full charge?

Just my 2c. Wish you best of luck finding the issue if it isn't battery related.

Did you wait enough until the VSC light turns off before you start the engine?

I worry that you just didn't wait enough to initialize the ABS/VSC computer. When the battery is disconnected or drained and next time you start the engine using a new battery or a jump starter, you have to wait about 15 seconds or so until the VSC light turns off.

Cables are corrosion free and tightened. I left it off for 15 hours or so. The check vsc with only abs comes on at first ac was blinking then it would all go away. Eventually after a 100 miles or so the check engine light would come on and check vsc would be either on at startup then go away, on at startup and never go away or gone at start up and come back when warmed up and at a stop light or something.

Was a long time ago, but no, I probably just started it directly after it was done jumping. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind hopefully the next time.

Default Ocv

Hi,

Im in the process of learning on my LS400. Recently it had the VSC CHECK light and a CEL on. After warming up it would idle really rough in drive and also park, but mainly in drive. I ordered two OCVs and hoping this should fix the issue, not an expert my any means but its a cheap and quick job to eliminate as a possibility.
