Off throttle "clunk"
NEWBIE LEXUS OWNER!! Woo hoo! Thread w/ pics will be posted shortly. But for the time being, I need helping fixing a couple glitches. It's a '95 LS 400 w/o air suspension. I have a slight vibration and clunk which I am pretty sure are lower control arm bushings (dealer said they needed to be replaced). The other issue is a "clunk" or sometimes a "double clunk" felt and heard intermittently when completely letting off the throttle. Doesn't sound like it's coming from the front, but I can feel it in the gas pedal. I experienced a similar feel once in an SUV and it was play in a double carden joint on the driveshaft. Anyone have experience w/ a symptom like this? What was the culprit? Are the driveshafts known to go out on these cars?
Thanks in advance!

You have bought a great car for your collection. Sorry I cant help you with you clunks but I'm sure someone will try and at least point you in the right direction.
PS Very cool web site!

You may be feeling the transmission moving in and out of the torque convertor lock-up point, depending on the road speed. I have noticed this on my own car in the 40-50 mph range. Above or below, it doesn't do it.

I believe it is normal, I have had a Lexus trained tech drive the car and he feels they all do it. Of course they say that a lot......
Whatever it is, it seems to be benign, and I wouldn't worry about it.
