Curiosity lingers...remove the entire exhaust?
Just kind of curious, has anyone here removed the entire exhaust to there LS? Preferably 98+
Saw another 95-97 and a 98+ having some fun on the highway and decided to join in, his LS was so loud it sounded like classic American muscle..

well i know that JBrady of the JBrady intake said that his 1999 LS with no exhaust sounded like 'an open header corvette'
if you want something easy and basically risk free simply removing the rear mufflers will give a nice burble but not be too loud or droney

That video is wild! That being said, my old '96 LS with over 260,000 on it at the time did still put down 250rwhp on a Mustang dyno with the original, untouched exhaust, so I'm guessing you're going for sound only.
disclosure: my car had an intake modification that wasn't the JBrady job. What is a jbrady intake? Is that where you drill holes in the air box or something? LOL

I did it on my 1996 when I was changing out the transmission. I couldn't get the front cat bolts out, so took it to a muffler shop to take it apart. Drove through the center of town 10 miles without any exhaust at all. It was really loud. I had it up on jack stands when my grandson came over to change oil on his bmw. While he was pouring the oil, I cranked it up and went WOT! Boy, did he jump.

full removal only gives sound but no further performance gains. if sound is all you're after, hoon away!
exhaust backpressure is necessary to make power, and these cars are very sensitive to changes such as this.
I ran without the rear mufflers for years for a nicer "tuned" sound without much performance (or comfort) compromise; not full exhaust removal - cat back.
