There was also a crashed (rear end) LS400 1st gen there few days ago, but they wanted too much for it , $1500 IIRC), but I was very close to going to see it... And then, I check today and it's gone.
Which one is gone?

And here i was thinking 1500 was too much for mind should I need to get rid of it right now lol

The black one 1st gen that was rear-ended is gone. It was in a running condition, but obviously salvage title and a lot of work and money away from being roadworthy.
But considering low mileage, it was perfect for parts (around 100k on that car, with pristine interior)
Don't forget this is SF, where prices only go one of two ways: ridiculously expensive, or the owner is so desperate to get rid of something that he offers it for peanuts or free.

So did anyone say how many miles were on the car when the belt broke? You don't hear too many stories about broken timing belts on these engines, so I'm curious.

this peaks my interest as well. only things that would cause a belt to snap is extreme abuse or driving for a crazy amount of miles and just never giving a damn about it. ive never seen a nice one with a shredded belt.

The car had about 120k miles on it when the belt broke. I am thinking they probably figured "Oh, it's not THAT much more than recommended 90k miles" and then - snap. It may not have had many miles, but it did have 20 yrs under its belt, forgive the pun.
But I am only guessing - maybe the timing belt was changed, in which case, that's a bummer.

Even then, not worth all the trouble. Only good for someone to scavenge the parts.

I just dropped another 1uz I got from a junkyard for $250 in my 99 LS. Timing belt didn't break in mine but stretched...result is the same...major engine damage, hole in a piston. Mine was in pretty good shape even with 236k, but it has a lot of sentimental value, and I always knew I'd fix it. GL with everything, hopefully you find another in good condition if you want to replace it.
